When toughened, tempered, and polished, Duplex Steel S31803 Nuts offer the highest rust protection. Being an air hardening steel, it requires preheating to at least 350°F - 400°F before welding and immediate annealing before the weldment cools. This metal can be cut while annealed but performs best when cold drawn. It is ideal for applications needing mild corrosion protection and good mechanical properties, such as vehicle exhausts, manifolds, high-temperature engine components, medical tools, and devices, as well as petrochemical uses. Additionally, this alloy is resistant to nitric acid, strong sulfuric acid, dilute acetic acid, and naphtha.
